MISSION

Church at Wazeecha has a mission to disciple new believers and to integrate them into the mission of discipling others. The desire to reach, disciple, equip, and send people who live in the proximity of Lake Wazeecha.

HISTORY

The Hope House ministry began as a weekly local outreach program of Hope for the Hungry 15+ years ago. In the early days, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volunteers went out to the fields at Mitchell Circle and Belle Oaks to play games with and lead a Bible Story for children in the area.

Over the years, several programs have been added, and a few have dropped as they have followed where the Lord has led Hope House ministry.

Trey and Lea Ann Turner moved to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin in 2009 where Lea Ann Turner began work in an administration position at Midstate Technical College in July of that year. Their dream was not simply to follow a job but to also go with the hope of planting a new church where they lived.

Having come from a pastorate in Texas, and with the support of that church and the Minnesota Wisconsin Baptist Convention, Trey worked to build relationships in the community. Volunteer service at various places led to serving a short time as the Executive Director of the Literacy Council of Wood County. Early in 2013, Trey was holding Bible studies and fostering the relationships which would be key for more formal relationships. He then approached the Kellner Moravian church and asked for cooperation in allowing this group to meet on Sunday nights in their building. The church allowed the Bible study to meet and continue to develop. In September 2013, Church at Wazeecha began worship services in that building. In March 2014, the church constituted as a church under the Southern Baptist Convention and the Minnesota Wisconsin Baptist Convention.

HOW TO PRAY

COVID-19 was rough on many churches and the Church of Wazeecha was no different. In many ways, they are starting over as people moved away, got into the habit of not attending church, or became fearful of congregating with other people. Pray that the Church of Wazeecha will continue to fulfill its mission to reach, disciple, equip, and send the people who live within their sphere of influence.
